The question of Patrick Bamford going on loan is not if, rather than why. His future for the season was sealed as soon as Chelsea decided to take a punt on Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao. Had Chelsea chosen to sign a proven goalscorer, they could have sold Remy. Mourinho still seems in a state of indecision when it comes to the French striker.
Bamford himself has indicated he would like play regularly so a loan would make more sense. However, going to a Premier League team like Crystal Palace might not be the ideal move for the youngster. Premier League is fiercely competitive and he might end up at bench a lot. More so, if Palace start hovering around relegation zone, which – given Alan Pardew, the manager – is always a possibility.
Bamford was named Championship Player of the Year last season and was being tracked by a host of suitors, including Everton, Newcastle and Aston Villa, but ambitious Palace have pipped the competition according to the Daily Mail.
