One of the shortest Chelsea chants, it is usually sung in parades.
This chant originated when Chelsea and John Terry won the double in 2010-11 season under Carlo Ancelotti’s first season. It is usually sung to rile the Tottenham’s fans.
Oh Dennis Wise is a song sung by Chelsea fans in the memory of the goal scored by Chelsea captain against A.C. Milan in 1999-00 Champions League Campaign. Chelsea were facing Milan away in the group stages and Milan had taken the lead at 74 minutes mark. Dennis Wise scored the memorable equalizer and Chelsea topped the group to reach the second group stage.
Chelsea Alouette is another vintage Chelsea chant. A “caller” leads the song with each line sung back by the crowd, with the last line of each verse, and the chorus, sung in unison. These words were first published in the lewd “Rugby Songs” series of paperbacks in the 1960s. The Chelsea squad recorded it for the “Blue Is The Colour” album in 1972 with David Webb as the principal singer.
The Chelsea song, “We’ll Keep The Blue Flag Flying High” is sung to the tune of the socialist song “The Red Flag“, itself based upon the melody of the German carol O Tannenbaum. “O Tannenbaum” is a German song from 1824 which was translated as “O Christmas Tree” (a ‘tannenbaum’ is a fir tree).
Peter Osgood is a Chelsea legend who came through the junior ranks of the club’s academy to make his debut as 17-yo in the League Cup against Workington AFC on 16 December 1964. As a testament of things to come, the future ‘King of Stamford Bridge’ scored both goals of the tie. The buzz surrounding the tall, skilful teenager’s goalscoring for the club’s reserves – 30 goals in 20 games going into that month – was already immense, and he soon became a regular first-team player.
